How Frontier Couriers Began

Jeff Cook began working as a courier in 1984 and soon came to the realization that...he loved to drive! In July of 1987 Jeff and his wife, Lori, started Sprint Couriers from their home with $500.  Lori answered the phones and Jeff, along with two other drivers, made the deliveries.  As the business grew, so did their young family; but Lori continued to dispatch, handle customer relations, do all the office work, billing, filing, etc., and she made her share of deliveries too (no pun intended).

Within a year they had reached $350,000 in revenue.  At that point Jeff's brother came onboard to handles sales, and Jeff focused on the day-to-day operations of the business.  After their second year Sprint Couriers was handling 200 deliveries a day with revenues of $750,000 a year.  By 1993 they were up to 350 deliveries a day and sales were approaching $1,000,000. Then in that year, they were awarded several large contracts from medical laboratories and pharmacies. Over the next two years these accounts pushed annual sales over $2,000,000

In 1996, Sprint Couriers was awarded several large Airborne Express contracts.  Jeff devoted all his time to these contracts, while Lori took over all the other accounts. By 2000, under Jeff's leadership, Sprint Couriers had expanded exponentially with offices in eight states and over $10,000,000 in annual sales. The company was so large that a decision was made to spin off the operations that Lori was in charge of; and thus, Frontier Couriers began operations in 2001. Meanwhile Jeff continued to run Sprint Couriers, devoting most of his time to managing the large Airborne accounts.  At that time the operation had 13 locations and a fleet of 300 vehicles that serviced 7 airports.  It was during this period that Sprint Couriers was awarded the prestigious "Contractor of the Year" award by Airborne.

And then, on September 11, 2001, the air-freight industry came to a halt as all air traffic was grounded across the nation.  In the wake of this event regulatory changes brought pressures to bear that resulted in the collapse of Sprint Couriers' business model.  Jeff was forced to shut down all operations at Sprint Couriers, and close the doors for good.  But fortunately, Frontier Couriers, in Lori's capable hands, continued to thrive.

And so today, Jeff and Lori are again working side by side in the courier business.  Only now, it's Frontier Couriers, and Lori is the owner while Jeff, as President, oversees daily operations.  They have established working relationships with clients that have been ongoing now for nearly ten years.  And the growing list of new clients at Frontier bears witness that the reputation they have established is unmatched in the courier business. Jeff and Lori are as commited as ever to Frontier's success, and they continue to devote their time and energy to ensure that their customers are not merely satisfied, but out there saying nice things about them.  Just take a look at the testimonial page to see what they have to say.
